Things I learned This Weekend

1. My kids + their cousins + oreos = very bad things. Very loud, very hyper, very irritating bad things. I love them all dearly but oh. my. God.

2. It’s much more fun to edit other peoples’ stuff than work on my own.

3. Cats can and will find a way through blinds [...]

Thirteen Songs from the Current WIP’s Soundtrack
I need silence while writing, but here’s the mood music that drops me into the story:

1. In The Air Tonight, Phil Collins: This song is what it’s all about.

2. We Are Family, The Sisters Sledge: If I’m lucky enough to get this one published, you will understand [...]

Houston, We Have A Party

It’s that time — all those lucky people are gone to RT. The rest of us are home alone, acting up at the Samhain Cafe.
Come on over. Read excerpts and win stuff. There’s even rumors of Mimosas.

The Heads Up

I’m blogging over at Shades of Suspense today with guest interviewer Melani Blazer.
Which reminds me, if any of you want to contribute questions or be an Ask the Author guest interviewer, drop me a line at emma@emmawayneporter.com. Anyone can participate, so fire away.
*exits, singing Iiiiiiiiiii got a brand new pair of rollerskates, you got a [...]

Buffalo Bill and that one song I gotta listen to…

The (that’s teh for us gooder typists) office move saga continues…
El jeffe comes upstairs to my new office and says, “Honey, you gotta listen to this one song.” Then he leaves the room, snickering a little.
So, he sends it up to me (ethernet wrawks) and I quite unsuspectingly open this file called “Brand New Key”, [...]

It No Longer Puts The Lotion On Its Skin

After nine years in the basement, I’m finally in the process of moving my office upstairs.
Too cold and gloomy down here. Plus, there will be no more of my, er… beloved husband peering over here and saying, “It puts the lotion on its skin.”
I love change so much. Not. But as long as I don’t [...]

Thirteen Things I Did This Week Instead of Planning a TT Topic
Why do I never think about this until the last possible second? Here’s what I wasted my time doing:

1. I voted. Did you? :yoduh:

2. I wrote. :faint: Shocker.

3. I read. Kathy Reich’s Cross Bones and Steve Berry’s The Templar Legacy. Okay, [...]

I tried, but failed to shut up.

I tried not to blog this rant. I really did. But someone has to point the finger, and today it’s going to be me.
James Earl Ray.
Alfonso Rodriguez.
Henry Louis Wallace.
David Maust.
Timothy Buss.
Henry Lee Lucas.
Edmund Kemper.
Joseph Edward Duncan III
[Insert names of countless others]
And now we can list Cho Seung-Hui as the latest weapon of mass destruction who [...]

Quiet Week

I haven’t much to say for myself so far this week. Rather busy with any number of things.
Regarding kids: Hug ‘em if you’ve got ‘em. Today, there are at least 33 parents who can’t.

If You Go Out In The Woods Today…

Highlights of my weekend:

1. An event: Five hours in the car with three children.

2. A chorus: Everybody sing along. “Over the pheasants and through the hood, to Grandmother’s house we go”

3. A ruling: Because roadkill does not really have Xs for eyes as seen in cartoons, roadside casualties cannot, in fact, [...]
